What makes more sense to you? Paying thousands of dollars for expensive lenses and still feeling frustrated with your wildlife photography or spending a few hundred dollars on the right camouflage, getting closer to your subject, and coming away with great photos every time? Of course the answer seems simple. Watch my video to see how to save thousands of dollars when photographing wildlife.
Learn How To Save Thousands of Dollars
I've been photographing nature and wildlife for more than two decades. In the past, I focused on buying bigger, brighter, and faster lenses. If only I knew how I could have saved thousands of dollars by buying the right camouflage. Today, I'm kicking myself for taking so long to figure it out. As a result of wearing camo I've gotten closer to my wildlife subjects and photographed them acting a lot more naturally.
Wear Camouflage To Save Thousands of Dollars
Don't get me wrong, I love big beautiful telephoto camera lenses. However, I can't believe what a difference wearing camouflage has made when it comes to my ability to land amazing bird and other wildlife photos.
In the video above you'll learn what to look for when it comes to buying the right camouflage. Too, I've put together the list below full of some of my favorite brands and a few choice items.
Please Note: I'm not being paid directly by these companies the links are affiliate links to Amazon and I may be paid a small amount (very small) if you buy something directly through a link. That said, I've tried out everything on this list.
The Right Camouflage
Here is my list of some of the best camouflage, the right camouflage, for bird and other wildlife photography. I've tried to select companies who make gear for both men and women wherever possible. That said, there are some on the list that only seem to make or stock gear for men.
The Top of The Line
Sitka is one of the best loved brands that sells hunting style camouflage which is great for bird photography. I'm a big fan of their gear. I've tried on this incredible jacket: The Sitka Incinerator Aerolite but not gotten a chance to field test it. That said, it's on my list and I'm going to buy my own as soon as the budget allows.
Hard Core Decoys makes camo gear meant to keep you hidden from ducks. It's quiet and more water resistant than most others which is why these Finisher Extreme Bib pants are my top pick.
Midrange Gear
SentBlocker makes really incredible jackets. This lightweight rain jacket is one of my favorites. Their gear is less expensive than Sitka's but it's still incredible.
Nomad makes some incredible sound-dampening camo gear. Since making sound can be just as big of a problem as being see by your wildlife subjects consider these Harvester Nxt Pants.
Low Priced But Still Great
Frog Togs was a brand I relied on a lot when I used to ride a motorbike. Their classic Pro-Action Rain Jacket features Realtree designs that have long proven to be great at keeping you hidden.
Hot Shot makes quality gear at a good price. I own and love these performance pants. They're one of my favorite pants to wear for wildlife photography.
